Shepherd's Centers of America

A network of interfaith community-based organizations that provide meaning and purpose for adults 50 years and older. All Shepherds' Centers have a commonly understood mission to empower older adults to use their wisdom and skills for the good of their communities. Life-long learning opportunities and social services are provided through partnerships with many faiths and the community at large. Volunteers are the leaders in providing in-home and community-based services for their neighbors. The vision is that individuals will experience meaningful lives through all phases of their mature years.

Current Programs

The Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke (SCFB) offers free transportation for medical appointments to older adults in the Fairfax-Burke area who are unable to drive. A volunteer will accompany you to a doctor, dentist, or therapy appointment. Please call the SCFB office at 703-877-2280 three days to one month in advance to request transportation.

Volunteer drivers and office workers to arrange rides are urgently needed for this program. Please call the SCFB office to volunteer to help.
Bi-monthly Lunch N' Life programs are the first phase of activities organized by the Fairfax-Burke Shepherd's Center. Interesting programs and good food are the platform for introducing the community to the Shepherd's Center concept and inviting attendees to participate in laying the groundwork for the future.  Future activities will be determined based on surveys on needs of adults 50 years and older in the Fairfax-Burke area.
