Drowning Doesn't Look Like Drowning
BY MARIO VITTONE
"...There is very little splashing, no waving, and no yelling or calls for help of any kind. To get an idea of just how quiet and undramatic from the surface drowning can be, consider this: It is the number two cause of accidental death in children, age 15 and under..."
Know Your Guards:
Other In-Season Notes:
For the enjoyment of all members, please note that any of the following actions should be reported to a lifeguard: pushing, rough playing, sitting or standing on another's shoulders, somersaulting and/or other flipping/diving actions from the pool edge, and any other concerns you may have as a pool member. Pool members and their guests are required to adhere to the rules and heed any lifeguard instructions while at the pools to ensure the safety of all.
Lifeguards are expected to focus on pool safety and operations. Guards should exhibit professional behavior at all times. If you have any concerns about the condition of the pool, the lifeguards/pool staff or other pool members, please contact the Conservancy office, (703) 978-2928. Staff members are available to address problems after hours as needed.
If needed, call the main office number and follow the prompts for after-hours assistance. Please report incidents when they occur (if urgent), or on the following business day (for non-urgent matters) to ensure appropriate action can be taken to resolve any issues. Delays in reporting concerns may make it more difficult for the Conservancy staff to track down and correct issues appropriately.
