Crime Awareness & Prevention

The Burke Centre Conservancy has a great working relationship with the West Springfield District Police. The community also has a Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) rep assigned to help communicate and exchange important information with local police.

The CAC rep meets with the police on a monthly basis, except during the summer months. If you have an issue in need of enforcement or more immediate attention, please contact the non-emergency number for Fairfax County police at (703) 691-2131.

Help stop vandalism and crime in our neighborhood.
With community vandalism, graffiti and other local crime around, isn't it time to start a Neighborhood Watch program in your pipestem or cluster area? When possible, it's always better to prevent a crime before it happens.

After vandalism has occurred on Burke Centre Conservancy-owned property, a cash reward may be offered for information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of anyone responsible for acts of vandalism to Burke Centre Conservancy-owned property. This includes the five community centers, five pools, neighborhood tennis courts, tot lots, bridges, trails, gazebos, etc.

Please contact the Conservancy office at (703) 978-2928 to report information. Your contact information will be held confidential until a cash reward, if eligible, is issued to you. You may also send an e-mail report to: administration@burkecentre.org.

Get Educated - It has been proven that in neighborhoods where citizens have joined together to look out for each other's safety, the incidence of burglaries and other crimes against property has been significantly reduced. Knowing who your neighbors are is the first step in this program. The next step is to begin a Neighborhood Watch in your community.
